RIP PC 1

Depois de muita espera, podemos dizer que a era pós-PC começou. Com a explosão dos dispositivos móveis, o PC passa a ter um papel secundário na nossa vida pessoal e profissional. Sabíamos que chegaríamos ao fim da era do PC, mas não exatamente quando e como.

Bill Gates, o grande vencedor da era PC, escreveu em "A Estrada do Futuro" (1995):

"É um pouco assustador, já que, à medida que a tecnologia dos computadores avançou, nunca o líder de uma fase permaneceu líder na fase seguinte. A Microsoft tem sido líder na fase dos microcomputadores. Portanto, a partir de uma perspectiva histórica, acho que a Microsoft não se qualifica para liderar a fase da estrada na Era da Informação. Mas quero desafiar a tradição histórica".

O fim da era PC aparece em muitos textos que pude pescar via Google:

1999 - Businessweek

2000 - CNN Money
"Likewise, a greater proliferation of Web-enabled devices such as cell phones and personal digital assistants over the next few years will further remove the consumer experience of computing from the desktop."

Parei nas citações do século passado. Dali em diante, o fenômeno era evidente.
